What is Rally Camp
I recently had the opportunity to escape the office in July, something that in a normal year wouldn’t happen! I was going to be at camp with Dolly for the 5 days. It made sense that I offer my services to a select few riders.
As it was Dolly’s first time at camp there was a ton of learning to be had. Discovering Rally Camp and all its adventures was eye-opening for Dolly. Rally Camp is an experience she can’t wait to have again next year!
Rally Camp gives Pony Club members the opportunity to school and experience all three elements of a Rally, which is similar to eventing. The Pony Club members have the opportunity to ride under the coaching of some of the best coaches while they are at camp, have team stable management competitions as well as a Rally Show on the last day.
Stable Management
I really enjoyed seeing the kids working together in teams to keep their tack and feed rooms as well as their horse stalls in tip-top shape. I commend all the kids at camp for working so hard to care for their horses, even with the record-breaking summer heat we have had here. Many, many buckets of water were hauled!
Cross Country
It takes a special kind of kid to be willing to go out into the wide-open spaces of a cross country field on a horse and jump stationary obstacles. Fellow moms, I saw you out there, hiding the look of worry on your faces and cheering your rider on!
Dressage
Dubbed sand arena ballerinas for a reason, dressage riders show poise and grace while riding a set of movements within an arena with precision and skill. My favourite of all equestrian events, I was wishing I had more time at this ring!
Stadium
If I was happy in the dressage ring, Dolly was itching for more rounds of jumping in the stadium. The jumps were so cute, with numerous of the participating Pony Club Branches having a signature jump for the kids to jump in the ring!
To view more from Rally Camp you can do so here. You can also see which shows and clinics I have been at this summer!
