Coast-to-Coast: National Quiz Adventures in Nova Scotia

This October, I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Canadian Pony Club National Quiz for the second time, and what an adventure it was! Last year, I travelled to the West Coast for Quiz, and this year, I found myself on the opposite side of the country in beautiful Nova Scotia. Thanks to Pony Club, I can now officially say I’ve dipped my toes in both oceans—a true coast-to-coast experience that not many can say they’ve done!

A Rocky Start
Unfortunately, our trip started with a little bit of heartbreak. On the day we were set to fly out, Emily, one of our teammates, had a medical emergency and wasn’t able to come with us. We missed her so much during the competition, but we knew she was cheering us on from home.

The Quiz Experience
Quiz itself was fantastic. It’s such a unique event where knowledge, teamwork, and quick thinking come together. From identifying obscure tack pieces to testing our equine trivia, every part of the competition was challenging and so much fun. My team worked really well together despite being one member down, and we learned a ton throughout the weekend.

Friendships and Fun
One of my favourite parts of Quiz is always the people. There’s something so special about coming together with Pony Clubbers from across the country who share the same love of horses. It’s more than a competition—it’s an opportunity to make new friends, share stories, and learn from each other.

Exploring Nova Scotia
Of course, we couldn’t go all the way to the east coast without doing some sightseeing! Nova Scotia is absolutely stunning, and we made sure to take in as much as we could. From historic landmarks to gorgeous coastal views, it was a trip to remember. I am especially grateful to Novalee's mom and her aunt for going out and bringing Lobster back to the hotel for us. It was on my bucket list and it meant so much to me that they went out of their way so we could have such a treat!

Wrapping It Up
This year’s National Quiz was such a meaningful experience for me. I’m so grateful for the chance to travel, compete, and connect with amazing people through Pony Club. The fact that I’ve now experienced Quiz on both the West and East coasts is something I’ll cherish forever.

Here’s to the next adventure—who knows where Pony Club will take me next!
