Ranch Wedding on the Alberta Prairie.
Earlier this spring I had a text pop up on my phone from a friend telling me about a sweet friend of hers who was in need of wedding photographer and wondering if I was available. The weekend in question just happened to be one of two weekends that I had not booked a wedding. I said yes and sent my contact info on. They say hind sight is 20/20 and I can say with my eyes wide open that Dean and Laurie’s wedding is without a doubt the wedding day that I have laughed the hardest, experience the most drastic weather changes during and felt like it was so full of love that my heart was going to burst! AMAZING!
From the moment Meg and I pulled in and got a look at the parking sign our cameras were singing the happy song of our shutters going steady. Laurie left no detail unattended. We started with getting ready photos. First the groomsmen and then the bridesmaids. I may have had something in my eye that caused it to water profusley when Laurie’s dad saw her in her dress. Then we were on our way to the ceremony, held on the lawn over looking Laurie’s moms flowerbed. It was a beautiful ceremony.
The bridal party all loaded into the bus and we hit the dusty trail. It wasn’t dusty for long as a wicked storm blew in. Laurie’s brother outran the rain to get us out to the corn field where we literally jumped off the bus, snapped 10 shots and ran as fast as our legs could take us to get back onto the bus before we got drenched.
We started our journey towards the reception, making a stop along the way to take a few more images. It was here that I knew Laurie and Dean would fast become my favourites as they appeased this ole gal and stood for pictures with a lamb.
I’ll stop with the talking and start with the sharing now…
Congratulations Dean and Laurie!
