Equine Portraiture Session | Wainwright, Alberta
I remember when Meghan outgrew her previous horse and Lainey came into her life. There is a certain excitement that comes with getting a new equine partner. Someone who has never experienced an equine partnership may not understand this. New blankets were seen hanging in the locker room and extra cuddles were seen being given in the stall. They have spent hours doing what a girl and her horse can be expected to along with working through the learning curve of growing together. I wonder how many circles, transitions and jumps these two tackled over the course of their time together. The hours grooming for hunter/jumper shows and the miles traveled. But most of all, the laughter and joy that came from their time together.
Growing up with horses means that there will be horses come and go during a persons journey through life. A few stay as life companions but most are shared with the next person who needs what they can give. Some of these horses are teachers, companions and most often they provide us with a shoulder to lean on when we need them. They provide us with incredible memories that we cherish for our lifetime. For Meghan and Lainey their journey has come to a fork in the road. Lainey has a new young lady to buy her blankets and give her kisses and Meghan has a young prospect to soar to new heights with.
I feel so thankful that I had the chance to spend some time with Meghan and Lainey before they said their goodbyes.
